This year we had forty requests for adoptee services and assisted with nine birth family reunions. The need for adoptee services continues to grow. From 1990 to 1999 there were 16,000 Korean children placed in American homes. Moreover, New Beginnings is one of the few remaining agencies that are still operating a Korean program. Adoptees wanting to search their records or open communication with their birth family have few resources.

We have kept services free for adoptees because we don’t want adoptees to feel barred from their own information if they cannot afford to pay for services. However, to do this, we need your support. It is through your donations that we can providing assistance and support for birth parent searches, counseling to adoptees and information on how to begin their search, what to expect, and travel assistance when needed.

The Missing Pieces

 
As thousands of adoptees are now “coming of age”, these young adults are searching for the missing pieces of their early life, their family history and their heritage. Their early life history is a part of their identity. Where were they born? Who are their birth parents and birth family? Do they have siblings?

We believe every adoptee who wishes to find the missing pieces of their history has a right to do so. It is part of their identity and how they view themselves as they emerge into adulthood. New Beginnings assists adoptees in their searches for the missing pieces of their history. We do not charge them any fees for this service.

Part of the funds raised through Beyond the Placement will go to support their searches
