Post-Adoption Services: Preparing for Korean Regulation Changes

With new Korean adoption regulations taking effect in July 2025, we recognize the increasing importance of post-adoption support and birth family searches. New Beginnings, in partnership with Eastern Social Welfare Society (ESWS), will continue to provide these essential services to adoptees and their families.

Key Actions for Families:

  • Visits to ESWS/File Reviews/Foster Mother meetings: If you will be traveling to Korea before July 2025 and wish to visit ESWS, New Beginnings’ adoptees should reach out to us as soon as possible to schedule their appointments. 
  • Letters and Photos: Families are encouraged to leave letters or photos for their child’s birth family. 

Birth Family Searches: There has been a rise in birth family search requests as adoptees aim to complete searches before the July 2025 transition. If you are considering a birth family search, file your request as soon as possible to ensure timely processing.
